The government, local organizations and experienced professionals have social, educational and cultural issues to address in the treatment of HIV-positive women and children, both in Rwanda and the United States. In Rwanda, the powerful cultural stigmas of HIV and AIDS hinder patients from seeking help, and PTSD and depression are frequent comorbid conditions encountered particularly in adolecent girls who have never experienced childhood milestones.
